Restaurant Il Pozzosince 1969 in Monteriggioni

The restaurant "Il Pozzo" was established in Monteriggioni, in province of Siena, on 10th September 1969, by Vittore and Lucia who have fairly divided their tasks, one is devoted to the room and wine-cellar and the other to the kitchen.

The place is rustic and elegant at the same time and in summer it is possible to eat in the garden too.

Here you can taste the old Tuscan cooking and you can be sure that pasta and cakes are hand-made, meat and cheeses are rigorously from the zone.

Our specialites are: beans soup, ribboned macaroni and wild boar sauce, pici to the green (basil), rice with mushrooms, and a sort of ravioli with truffle.

As a second course you can have t-bone steak, grilled lamb, fillet with mushrooms or with the fragrance of thymus, stuffed pigeon, wild boar in sweet and sour sauce or on the grill, rabbit to the chiantigiana.

Those who are vegetarians can enjoy: grilled red chicory and cheese, spelt, artichokes, mushrooms and several other vegetables according to season.

Our cakes are: English soup, strawberries or walnuts tart, cake with pine-seed and chocolate cream, cake with buttermilk curd, Prato's biscuits and Vin Santo, plums cooked in Chianti red wine and a delicious ice-cream with hot chocolate.

As Monteriggioni is in Chianti Gallo Nero territory, we can offer a wide selection of the best red, white and rosé wines and grappa.

 

The restaurant is closed on Sunday evening and on Monday, from 09th January to 12th February and the first week of August.

Reservation is recommended.
